Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree from the department of English literature. Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. She was hired by NBC News Washington two years later as an general reporter. 1981 she started covering at the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional Correspondent. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist as well as anchor of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the debates in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She covered a wide range of interesting stories such as arm control, budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal and was frequently together with President Reagan for summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
